Wand is hiring a Staff Fullstack Engineer with a backend focus to own the backend and data layer of a greenfield, customer-facing product. The role involves designing services, data models, and APIs from scratch, with end-to-end ownership in a fully AI-driven workflow. Requires strong backend fundamentals, full-stack ability, and startup experience.

What you'll do

Own backend architecture end to end for a greenfield product: design the services, data model, and APIs from scratch, decide what to keep and what to rethink, then build it.
Design data structures and system architecture for a customer-facing product built to scale, thinking through performance, reliability, and how the system behaves as usage grows.
Build and maintain backend services and APIs (we lean Go and Node.js, but we care far more about your track record than an exact stack match).
Contribute to the front-end as needed: every engineer here ships across the stack, so you should be comfortable building and reasoning about the UI even if backend is your focus.
Take true end-to-end ownership: propose the approach, defend it, then build it, without waiting for someone else to set the direction.
Build inside a fully AI-driven workflow, using tools like Claude Code as a core part of how you ship, not an occasional assist.
Operate comfortably in a small, fast-moving, ambiguous environment where priorities shift and you're often defining the 'how,' not just executing a pre-set plan.
