Postdoc position at Utrecht University for 24 months focusing on using numerical modelling and machine learning to improve wind flow prediction in coastal dunes. Requires a PhD in a relevant field, strong background in data science, machine learning, and programming (preferably Python).
What you'll do
- Evaluate current wind field predictions from AeoLiS by comparing model output with field measurements and/or CFD simulations
- Assess where simplified assumptions in the model fall short
- Train a machine learning model (such as PySR or neural networks) on CFD data to develop a fast, data-driven wind field predictor
