BlockTech is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Foundation team in Amsterdam to take technical ownership of its data infrastructure platform, including Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg. The role requires 3+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Rust or strong C/C++, and hands-on experience with distributed systems and data stores. You will enable other teams, own ingest and streaming layers, build storage solutions, and mentor engineers.

What you'll do

Enable other teams by making platform integration straightforward and turning recurring problems into shared libraries
Own the ingest path: collect public and private exchange data and internal trading events with minimal latency impact
Architect the streaming layer: design and operate Kafka and NATS messaging for throughput and delivery guarantees
Build the storage layer: develop real-time aggregation and long-term storage across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Iceberg
Run what you build: own capacity, retention, schema evolution, failure behavior, metrics, and alerting
Make the data trustworthy: design detection and repair flows for gaps, duplicates, and drift
Drive projects end to end from concept to production
Raise the bar: mentor engineers, lead by example in code and design reviews, and shape technical direction
