Xero is seeking a Senior Engineer - ML & AI Systems to design, build and own production systems behind AI features, including LLM-driven and agentic experiences. The role focuses on software engineering, system design, and operating scalable backend systems, with a hybrid work model in Sydney.

What you'll do

Design, build and own production systems behind Xero’s AI features
Build and operate services, pipelines and infrastructure for LLM-driven and agentic experiences
Make architecture decisions shaping scale, cost, reliability and shipping speed
Lift engineering capability across AI Products by setting standards and mentoring engineers
Partner across Xero to make data usable and systems dependable
Build interfaces and harnesses to take models into production
Own engineering and infrastructure of ML and AI systems in production
Reduce toil and deliver reliable, intelligent experiences
