Xero is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen platform reliability across a global platform. The role involves building automated tooling, chaos engineering, incident management, and collaborating with product teams to design reliability by default. Requires experience in SRE/DevOps, Kubernetes, AWS, and coding in Golang, Python, or C#.

What you'll do

Shift reliability into a front-row discipline, moving beyond reactive fixes to uncover and resolve systemic resilience challenges
Partner closely with product teams to design reliability by default
Build automated tooling
Champion chaos engineering experiments
Identify potential failures before they impact customers
Coordinate incident management rituals and post-incident analysis
Introduce load-shedding mechanisms
Develop custom Kubernetes operators to automate storage resizing, alert provisioning, and reliability-by-default capabilities
Enhance telemetry pipelines to extract AWS-specific metrics and route actionable alerts
Implement chaos engineering scenarios to test infrastructure failure modes
Build API load shedding and rate limiting to protect services against traffic surges
Share incident commander responsibilities across regions
