Staff Software Engineer needed for the Document Retention and Archiving Crew at CommBank in Melbourne, leading cloud-native platforms on AWS and Kubernetes while integrating AI capabilities. Requires strong software engineering experience in Python, Java or .NET, deep AWS and Kubernetes expertise, and technical leadership.

What you'll do

Lead the design, development, deployment and operation of secure, scalable cloud-native software solutions.
Shape architecture and technical direction across AWS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
Develop software and automation
Integrate AI-enabled capabilities into the platform and guide their practical, responsible adoption.
Embed comprehensive automated testing, observability, monitoring and secure-by-design engineering practices.
Improve delivery through infrastructure as code, continuous integration and deployment, GitOps and reusable engineering patterns.
Strengthen operational resilience, reliability, disaster recovery, performance and cost efficiency.
Mentor engineers, share knowledge and influence technical outcomes across squads and the wider crew.
